Gruyere and Chive Scones

Scones are the ever-versatile bread in individual serving sizes. They’re perfect at breakfast, brunch, as a snack, masquerading as biscuits with dinner, and of course they are the stars of afternoon teatime! This recipe is a savory scone, with grated Gruyère and fresh chives.   I love the addition of a little black pepper, and their golden hue. They are wonderful sidekicks to scrambled eggs, tomato soup, or ham.   When making scones, always be sure to have ingredients prepped, you want to move through the recipe process quickly so that the butter and cream don’t get too warm in the dough.
