They’re not just for New Year’s Day, but they are definitely a requirement on New Year’s Day. They say they bring good fortune to those who eat them on the first of January, and I’m superstitious enough to do it every year. The rest of the year, I make these frequently, especially when making Old Fashioned Collard Greens (also lucky) and pulled pork.
